In May 2023 I signed up for a jumpstart program with a local FDN. The program included the MRT, MT Diet Assessment and a few coaching sessions. This program changed my life in such an extraordinary way I decided to get my own certification to become an FDN and help others in the same way!
My main complaints going in were weight loss resistance, fatigue and brain fog/difficulty concentrating. When my test results came back I was devastated that I had to eliminate gluten, sugar, dairy and more. I wound up with an extremely limited diet for the first few weeks eating fruit and cashews for breakfast, corn chips with cheddar cheese for lunch and turkey with a fruit or veg for dinner. For the first 2+ weeks I was miserable and my family begged me to give up but I had committed to try it for at least 6-8 weeks and wanted to see if I could do it. One night in the middle of week 3 I looked at my husband and commented that I didn’t have to take a nap that day, something that was a regular occurrence in my life at that point. By the end of week 3 I found I had significantly more energy and had lost about 10lbs. I was starting to add more foods and felt good enough that I kept at it. Once it came time in my plan to reintroduce Wheat (the thing I was most upset about giving up) I called my FDN told her I thought I should stay Gluten Free as I was feeling so much better than I had in my entire life. By the end of the program I was down 30lbs and had more energy than I had since I was a teenager. The MT diet came into play for me most specifically around learning how to eat the correct macro percentages for my type. I realized so many of the meals I used to eat had little to no protein and/or fat. I became extremely conscious of making sure I had the correct % of protein to fat to carbs at each meal and it has really changed the way my energy is sustained into the next meal. About 2 months after completing my jumpstart program I signed up for the FDN course. I am now 6 months post-graduation and have helped 20 people make similar dietary changes!
